Rumor Quashed: No Benedict Cumberbatch in Episode VII

September 8, 2013 – How do these rumors even begin? For a brief moment, the Internet had lit up with rumors that English actor Benedict Cumberbatch (born on 19 July 1976; a cryogenically defrosted Khan in “Star Trek into Darkness”, the twelfth installment in the Star Trek franchise) might be cast to play a Sith Lord in “Star Wars Episode VII”.

Not so, Cumberbatch said at a press conference at the Toronto Film Festival: “Of course I’d love to do Star Wars and work with J.J. Abrams again because we had such a good time on Star Trek. But nobody has been cast and there are no offers out to anyone apart from the regulars who are returning. So that’s that rumour quashed… We’ll have to wait and see.” [Source: The Telegraph]

There’s something about his eyes or face that give Cumberbatch that mysterious, hard-to-decipher, he’s-plotting-something-bad look…perfect for a dark Sith Lord, don’t you think?
