February 20, 2014 – Yesterday, I posted a video comparing edits between the original The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and the re-mastered version in 2004.
Today we take a look at changes to the original Star Wars (1977) and its reincarnation 20 years later in 1997. While I appreciate some of the changes, such as color saturation and the crisper/cleaner look of the starfighter scenes, other changes are objectionable and don’t add anything to the film. For example, check out the Cantina scene in the video below, starting at around 05:52, where some of the original creatures (Wolfman) have been replaced by CGI creations. Was the change really necessary? Such a shame. Watch the video below and judge for yourself:
