New this year:
● Cancellation of the popular evening program, “Hyperspace Hoopla“. While this stage show was particularly popular among adults, some critics noted that it sometimes bordered on the absurd (or irreverent) and risked tarnishing the brand.
● Introduction of a “new evening experience” to replace “Hyperspace Hoopla” (no details released)
● An additional weekend (five instead of the usual four), defined as Friday, Saturday and Sunday
Weekend I: May 16 – 18, 2014
Weekend II: May 23 – 25, 2014
Weekend III: May 30 – June 1, 2014
Weekend IV: June 6 – 8, 2014
Weekend V: June 13 – 15, 2014
● And to cap off the evening, a new fireworks display will be synchronized to Star Wars music. You can read the details and see a video here.
This annual event is a highlight of the year for me, and I’ve been fortunate to have attended every Star Wars Weekends since 2007. If you are interested in meeting Star Wars actors (film and voice) or purchasing limited-edition collectibles, I highly recommend arriving early. Here is a photo-blog of my 2013 Star Wars Weekends adventure so you can see what you’ve been missing.
NOTE: DisneyWorld’s one-day, one-park ticket prices increase tomorrow (2/23/14) to: $99 Magic Kingdom and $94 all other parks (Hollywood Studios, EPCOT and Animal Kingdom). An admission ticket is required to participate in Star Wars Weekends.
