William Shakespeare’s The Empire Striketh Back

Shakespeare Yoda
March 23, 2014 – There are numerous mash-ups and parodies of Star Wars, but the William Shakespeare version is particularly clever. Imagine if the Bard had written Star Wars 400 years ago? Yoda’s inverted speech might even seem natural.

Now you no longer have to imagine: You can purchase Ian Doescher’s illustrated book (or the digital version), William Shakespeare’s Star Wars: The Empire Striketh Back. Ian Doescher has previously released a Shakespearean adaptation of the first Star Wars, and now he’s back with the second installment, composed in iambic pentameter.

To get a better look and feel of how this version plays out, watch the clip below:

You can purchase the book (U.S. $14.95) here beginning March 18, 2014. The finale, The Jedi Doth Return, will be available on July 1, 2014. I can’t wait to see a live stage adaptation!
