“Star Wars Episode VII” Now Filming

April 7, 2014 – Walt Disney Studios chairman Alan Horn has confirmed that Star Wars: Episode VII has begun filming and that much of the cast is in place. However, he would not confirm any of the actors’ names or give hints as to the plot.

Horn was interviewed and videotaped in the Loyola Marymount University School of Film and Television’s “Hollywood Masters” series (see below). I’m glad to hear of his emphasis on the importance of solid writing and good storytelling. Horn said, “It’s all about the screenplay… It has to be screenplay, screenplay, screenplay”.

Horn confirms that the film picks up “where [Return of the Jedi] left off — and where (Episode) 6 left off is 35 years ago by the time this is released.” He also does a pretty good impression of Yoda.
