New “Aurasma” (Augmented Reality) Technology at Disney’s Star Wars Weekends 2014

May 20, 2014 – I’ve been busy attending and reporting on the events at Disney’s annual Star Wars Weekends (May 16th through June 15th, 2014) on my other blog, which you can follow here: MyStarWarsJourney.wordpress.com

New this year: Disney is providing its guests “augmented reality” via a free downloadable app called Aurasma. By pointing your smartphone at any number of things throughout Disney’s Hollywood Studios – say, a poster, the Star Wars Weekends logo, even various photo backdrops – you will see them come alive. Watch “virtual” character experiences, receive additional information in the guide maps and interact with the event logo itself (pictured above). The software program Aurasma is provided by Disney’s technology partner, HP.
