February 26, 2016 – We rarely post anything not strictly Star Wars-related. But this trailer for Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny might pique your interest.
Arriving 16 years after the release of the Academy Award-winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (2000), the sequel continues “the fight to keep a great warrior’s sword from an evil warlord”, according to film sponsor Netflix.
However, unlike the original CTHD 16 years ago, don’t expect to see widespread release of Sword of Destiny at cinemas nationwide. Many theater chains are refusing to screen the movie because Netflix also plans to release the movie in the home on the same day it appears in cinemas, thus undercutting theater chains’ profits. Only about a dozen IMAX theaters across the U.S. will be showing the movie, which starts today (Feb. 26th)
The movie is based on the next part of the Iron Crane tetralogy.
Look for Michelle Yeoh to reprise her role and Donnie Yen to replace Lu Mu Bai. Donnie Yen, by the way, is cast in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which we earlier discussed HERE. Rogue One will be released 16 December 2016.
