Retailer-Exclusive Editions of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” DVD’s & Blu-ray

March 11, 2016 – Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be released for purchase first on Digital HD (April 1st), then on Blu-ray Combo Pack and DVD (April 5th). AA-1

Major retailers are each offering their own retailer-exclusive collectible versions of The Force Awakens Blu-ray combo pack (Blu-ray + DVD + Digital):

Best Buy is packaging its Blu-ray in a SteelBook hinged case ($29.99) AA-5

Disney Store is offering an exclusive lithograph set (BB-8) with its combo pack while supplies last ($24.95; must pre-order by April 4th to get the lithograph set)

Target is offering 20 minutes of bonus content (interviews with Daisy Ridley and John Boyega; a review of the movie’s costumes, props and weaponry; etc.) However, be aware that the bonus content is not on a disc. Instead, the extra content will be distributed via a code inside the packaging and will be streamed via the Disney Movies Anywhere website. ($24.99; comes with a $5.00 Target gift card if you pre-order.) AA-3

version comes in BB-8 packaging and offers an exclusive Star Wars Galactic Connexions trading disc. ($19.96; currently out of stock online, but if you register your email address, Walmart will notify you when it becomes available.)

As for the 3D version of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, no release date has been set other than “later this year”.
