April 22, 2016 – Move over, Angry Birds. A new wave of Disney tsum tsums will soon be coming to a store near you.
Bernie Sanders: What the hell are tsum tsums?
Hillary Clinton: Wall Street loves them! They are stuffed round toys based on popular Disney characters that you can stack, like in a pyramid.
Bernie Sanders: Well then, everyone should get free tsum tsums. Guaranteed tsum tsums for high school, for college, for life!
Hillary Clinton: But you don’t have a plan. How are you going to distribute them, and ship them, and pay for them? Who decides?
Bernie Sanders: Doesn’t matter. Show us your tsum tsums, Hillary. What are you hiding?
Hillary Clinton: I didn’t say I have any. I just know about them.
Bernie Sanders: See? She changed her position again. #TsumTsumsTooBigToFail #StopHidingYourTsumTsumsHillary
Donald Trump: I will build the biggest tsum tsum ever. Believe me, I know. It’ll be terrific. Absolutely. Make Mexico pay for them.
The Disney tsum tsum collection is expanding to include new characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first wave of TFA tsum tsum characters debuted in early 2016.
Japan, where tsum tsums first began in 2013, will be the first to see the newest arrivals on May 4th. Characters include Rey, Rey with goggles, Finn the Stormtrooper, Finn in pilot jacket, Kylo Ren, BB-8, Captain Phasma, Poe Dameron and a First Order Stormtrooper.
The new series will then be released worldwide on June 21st at Disney Stores and DisneyStore.com.
New collections are normally scheduled for release on the first and third Tuesday of every month.
The name of the plush toys comes from the Japanese verb tsumu, which means “to stack”. The stuffed toys are designed to stack on top of each other, forming a pyramid.
The sizes range from “mini” (3.5 inches/9cm long) to “medium” (11 inches/28cm) to “large” (17 inches/43cm). In October 2015, Disney announced a subscription-only “small” size (7.5 inches/19cm).
