August 31, 2016 – Here’s a clever way to promote the first wave of Rogue One merchandise and the upcoming movie: Animate the action figures in a tongue-in-cheek sketch from Rogue One.
The stop-motion animated film highlights action figures for characters Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones), Cassian Andor (Diego Luna), K-2SO (Alan Tudyk), the Funko figurine for Imperial Director Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn), and other characters. A LEGO Death Star playset and Imperial Star Destroyer are also featured prominently.
If the video reminds you of Robot Chicken, it may be because Seth McFarlane is voicing some of the characters.
Budding amateur film makers may want to consider entering the #GoRogue contest, which asks fans to create their own short films with the toys they buy. Winners will receive a trip to LucasFilm headquarters in San Francisco for a special Rogue One screening and a screening of the winners’ short videos.
Submit contest entries between 9/30/16 at 12:00 p.m. PT and 10/21/16 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Open to legal residents of the United States, Canada (excluding Quebec), Australia and New Zealand who are age 13+ at time of entry. Limit is one entry per person. Three (3) Grand Prizes will be awarded (value: US $7,000 each). All Grand Prize Winners must travel on or about Dec. 12, 2016. Visit http://www.StarWars.com for official rules.
Pre-orders for some of the toys begins Sept. 2nd, and full product availability will be Sept. 30th at midnight.
