Lucasfilm Reveals Star Wars Saga Timeline

August 24, 2019 – It’s easy to get confused as to where the new television shows and all animated Star Wars series fit into Star Wars‘ grand timeline.

Fortunately, at the D23 Expo in Anaheim, California, Lucasfilm has just revealed the official Star Wars Saga Timeline:

From beginning to end: Star Wars Episodes I thru IX and all (major) TV shows and animated series to date.

The timeline divides the Star Wars saga into three eras: the Age of Republic, the Age of Rebellion, and the Age of Resistance.

The Age of Republic covers the prequel trilogy — The Phantom Menace (1999), Attack of the Clones (2002), and Revenge of the Sith (2005) — which chronicles the fall of the Galactic Republic and the rise of the Galactic Empire. The animated Star Wars: The Clone Wars occurs between the events of AOTC and ROTS.

The Age of Rebellion is the the original Star Wars trilogy — A New Hope (1977), The Empire Strikes Back (1980), and Return of the Jedi (1983). Included in this era are Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars Rebels, and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

The Age of Resistance is the sequel trilogy — The Force Awakens (2015), The Last Jedi (2017), and The Rise of Skywalker (2019). Within this era are the animated series Star Wars: Resistance and Disney’s newly opened themed land, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, at Disneyland and Walt Disney World.

As for The Mandalorian and the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi and Cassian Andor live-action shows, all to be streamed on DisneyPlus, check out the timeline and see where they fall.
