“May the 4th” Limited Edition Merchandise Coming to ShopDisney.com

May 3, 2020 – To help celebrate Star Wars Day, Disney will be releasing limited edition “May the 4th” merchandise at 10:00 AM (ET)/7:00 AM (PT) on 4 May 2020.

Some items are expected to sell quickly or even sell out, so you will need to access the shopDisney.com site as soon as the merchandise is released.

In addition, in honor of the 40th anniversary of The Empire Strikes Back (1980), the Disney store site will be releasing The Empire Strikes Back 40th Anniversary Collection merchandise, including specialty figures, a Yoda plush, and Starbucks “You Are Here” mugs themed to the lands of Hoth, Bespin, and Dagobah.

For the first time, shopDisney.com will be introducing a virtual queue and processing orders on a first-come, first-served basis.  Note that the queue will not be available on the Disney app. The actual opening time of the virtual queue is unknown, so you may wish to test the site well ahead of the merchandise release time [10:00 AM (ET) / 7:00 AM (PT) 4 May 2020].

The queue is designed to avoid glitches and server crashes caused by huge online traffic. In addition, automated bots in the past have snatched up limited edition items, so the virtual queue will give non-bots (that’s you) a fairer chance at placing an order.

Good luck and May the Fourth Be With You!

First “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” Pins and Merchandise Arrive

January 16, 2018 – Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge may not be opening until 2019, but that hasn’t stopped Disney from releasing its first wave of themed merchandise.

Released several weeks ago at select locations in Disneyland and Walt Disney World (Tatooine Traders at Disney’s Hollywood Studios), the merchandise includes men’s and women’s T-shirts, hats, pins and a lanyard, a framed rendering of the Millennium Falcon at Batuu, a patch and thermos-style cup.

Besides locations at the Disney theme parks, you can find shirts, hats, and art prints online using the Shop Disney Parks app. (Photo Credit: Walt Disney Co.)

The two pins display the “Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge” logo and cost $16.99 each. Both pins are limited edition. The weight of the metallic pin requires two clasps on the back side.

The standard pin, pictured below, shows the Falcon parked on Batuu, the remote outpost planet you will be visiting at the themed land.

The Annual Passholder pin includes a hinged glass lid, over which is imprinted “Star Wars / Galaxy’s Edge / Landing 2019”. Swing the lid open and it reveals the Falcon parked on Batuu. The cost is $16.99 less 20% Annual Passholder discount, or $13.59.

If you’re wondering why DJ Rex merits his own T-shirt and cap, recall that his original name was Captain “Rex” RX-24 and that he piloted the Starspeeder 3000. Rex (voiced by Paul Reubens a.k.a. Peewee Herman) was replaced by C-3PO in 2011 when Star Tours was reimagined and reopened as Star Tours – The Adventures Continue.

No longer a pilot, Rex will be returning as “DJ Rex” and serving at the cantina when Galaxy’s Edge opens in 2019. Disney made the announcement last year in Anaheim at the D23 Expo 2017.

The Swaggiest of Swag at Star Wars Celebration Orlando

April 8, 2017 – A reporter recently asked fans to email her sample photos of their Star Wars swag, and she was inundated with over 700 samples. Little did the reporter realize the explosive growth of Star Wars Celebration swag in recent years.

“Swag”, loosely defined as loot or possibly an acronym for “Stuff We All love to Get”, has become hugely popular at recent Celebration gatherings.

Swag items – whether they are fan-made pins, patches, stickers, trading cards, and even 3-D printed works of art – are usually freely given. They are never sold for currency, at least not at the conventions. Trading is also common, especially for highly sought-after patches and rare but super cool creations from fellow Star Wars fans.

The creativity, thought and humor that go into the swag creations can be very impressive.

Pictured in this article is a very small sample of the swaggiest of swag you might see at Star Wars Celebration Orlando.

HINT: If you really want a particular item, the creators’ names are captioned below their products, and you can find him/her on Facebook or join the “SWCO Swag” Facebook group.

So where do you find all this great swag? Well, they won’t be sold at the Celebration store as these fan-made items are not official products.

Rather, look for fellow fans roaming Celebration’s halls who might be wearing a “Swag Club” badge or a lanyard with tons of the same pin or item.

Also check out the “SWCO Swag” Facebook page if you want to connect with fellow Swag creators or to join the discussion. A social room or two (room W305AB) will be available where fans can display, trade, or give away their swag.

Happy Swagging!

Disney’s Rogue One Pins

pin-jyn-c
December 2, 2016 – With Rogue One set to launch in two weeks, Disney/Lucasfilm are busy promoting the movie. One way to turn fans into walking billboards is to sell them Disney’s latest Rogue One pins.

You can find these high-quality pins at DisneyStore.com, at Disney’s theme parks, Disney Springs (Orlando), the Downtown Disney District (Anaheim), and your local Disney store.

Most pins measure 1.5″ to 1.75″ (3.8 cm to 4.5 cm) with the exception of the TIE Striker pin (4th pin in photo below), which is 2″ (5 cm) long. The pins are either baked enamel or Cloisonné hard enamel, not the cheaper stamped or pressed pins associated with mass produced campaign buttons.

The five pins picture above are $9.99 each. (If you or someone you know has a Disney Annual Pass or a Disney Vacation Club membership, a 20% discount is available when purchased in person, but not online, through Dec. 31st.)

If you prefer not to wear the pins, you can always display them like a museum-style marker label with your Rogue One figures and vehicles:
