May 4, 2015 – Now that Disney owns Lucasfilm and all things Star Wars-related, its theme parks are increasingly merchandising its unique hybrid of Disney-meets-Star-Wars products. At both Disneyland and Disney World’s Hollywood Studios, for example, two limited edition (5,000) May the Fourth pins have been released.
May the Fourth Star Wars merchandise can be found at Tatooine Traders (next to Star Tours) and at Mickey’s of Hollywood (main store near the park entrance, to your left as you enter).
Today’s park hours for Hollywood Studios are 9:00 am to 10:00 pm (or until midnight for Extra Magic Hours guests). Disneyland Park closes at 7:00 pm and Disney California Adventure Park closes at 9:00 pm today.
Character photo ops with Darth Vader, Boba Fett and other denizens are available (if you can find them and make your way through the crowds). And you cannot escape Disney’s Hollywood Studios without receiving a flyer (below) reminding you to “Fulfill your Destiny every Fri-Sun, May 15-June 14, 2015” for Disney’s annual Star Wars Weekends.
With the Sorcerer’s Hat structure permanently removed earlier this year, the façade of the replica Grauman’s Chinese Theatre is now visible at the foot of Hollywood Boulevard. In preparation for Star Wars Weekends, Disney last week erected a Center Stage where the iconic hat once stood. We’ll report back to you on May 15th when Star Wars Weekends begins.
